Parting the grasses at the foot of the mountains (for Suzuki Shosan)

::::::::::::::

This line of this
Present poem
Is of more consequence
Than all the lines
Of all the poems
I've written.

If I remain here
Without my knowing
I will have become
Good very good
Without penetrating
My own faults.

I truly
Know
You don't
Know
I am sinking
Into hell.

You may have
Your eyes
Trained
On this poem
But, not grasped
You can't use it.

Situation of the ants
Suffering and enjoying
Life::::Sympathy!
By some means
They should be saved!
Small mind of compassion.

Complete and spontaneous
Freedom::::Cast it away!
I thrust death
Back into my bosom
Returned to
What I really am.
