The mountains decay and the oceans wither::::
we further corrode the feeble mass of past corrosion,
our lives unnoticeable within the whole of the universe
for the whole of eternity. We strive to nourish our-
selves on pieces of existence which have enough substance
to be inhabitable::::our bodies are such material, and
Earth; from death we learn our intelligence was such
material.

I learned to dance from feet bottoms like dogs
learn to swim shoved into deep-ends, and slid my palm
across the head of an infant::::raw silk.
Last night I crawled under my quilt and top-
sheet and fell asleep, awoke this morning on top of them::::
made. I remember this extraordinary event only now,
tonight, as I crawl under my top-sheet and quilt.
