CUS: Point to the aspirin!
SANA: Go there!
(He returns to her with it, throws down a large bill)
CUS: Take this!
SANA: Don't forget your change!
(She throws him back his change. He snaps it up and Stomps out the door. MMAN enters, points at SANA from just inside the doorway)
MMAN: Look at the woman I love!
(She doesn't move until he's only a foot or two in front of her, then she turns abruptly toward him)
SANA: Look at the man I love!
(He stands still until she slugs his shoulder, moving him off-balance; we would call his movement backwards::::'over-reacting' or 'slap-stick'. Then he walks right up to her as if he's going to beat her)
MMAN: Think about lunch with me!
(His chest slightly touches hers, then he turns quickly, then turns back to her::::she's pointing out the door)
SANA: Wait ten minutes outside!
(He slugs her shoulder. She moves very little though he has hit her harder than she slugged him. He stomps to the doorway, she turns her back to him, he looks at her for an instant then exits. BOSS enters from the back room, SANA is behind an aisle)
BOSS: Tell me where you are!
SANA: Wait!
(She runs up to the counter)
Tell me what you want!
BOSS: Get out of here! Go home!
(SANA rushes around the counter, withdraws her purse and sweater, and points to BOSS)
SANA: I'll see you tomorrow!
BOSS: Be here at nine!
(SANA stomps out the front door. S-MAN enters and runs up to BOSS pointing at her)
S-MAN: Give me a minute!
BOSS: (pointing at him) Take two!
S-MAN: Buy the best aspirins! Buy my aspirins!
BOSS: Tell me how much!
S-MAN: Give me two hundred dollars!
(She yanks the money out from the cash register and throws it at him. He grabs it)
S-MAN: Eat them with pleasure!
BOSS: Have a good day!
(He stomps out, she goes into the back room. MOM and SON march in hand in hand, MOM stops abruptly and points to the corner, SON stands at attention before MOM)
MOM: Go to the corner!
SON: (while turning to go) Go to the moon!
(He marches to the corner and sits there on the floor, though there are chairs, and glares at her. She stomps up to the counter and bangs her fist down)
MOM: Tell me where you are!
(BOSS appears from the back, points at MOM)
BOSS: Tell me what you want!
MOM: Point to the magazines!
BOSS: (pointing) Follow your senses!
(MOM turns her back on BOSS, then turns to face her)
MOM: Give me a break!
(She then goes to the magazines. She stands before them with her hands on her waists tapping one foot, occasionally moves sideways in front of them like a crab, but always ends up before the center of them. REN stands in the doorway, points at BOSS)
REN: Look at the woman I love!
(BOSS turns around to face him, they stare at each other then step toward each other with the same stride, like a wedding march, until their chests meet, their hands in fists at their waists)
BOSS: Take me to the moon! Everyone feel the moon!
(MOM turns from the magazines)
MOM: Feel the moon!
SON: Feel the moon!
MOM: (turning to SON) Shut up!
SON: Read your magazines!
(She turns back to the magazines)
MOM: Mind your own business!
(BOSS and REN ease their bodies apart, and stand very close)
BOSS: You're going to the movies! I'm going to Mario's!
REN: We're going to Mario's!
BOSS: Go take a shower!
REN: Be ready at five!
BOSS: Be at your condo at six-thirty!
REN: Be at your apartment at six!
BOSS: Be at my apartment at six! Don't forget to use soap!
(MOM grabs a magazine, stomps over to the counter with it, throws it down)
MOM: Tell me what this costs!
BOSS: Read the price!
MOM: Take this!
(She throws a large bill at BOSS, who throws the change back at her)
BOSS: Don't forget your change!
(BOSS grabs the magazine from her hands)
You need a bag!
(She marches to SON, who stands at attention before her)\
MOM: Come on!
(They march out. Then REN suddenly pushes into BOSS, knocking her back. He starts toward her again but she puts her hands up gesturing 'stop')
BOSS: Stand back!
REN: Come to me!
BOSS: (pointing at him) Go away from me!
REN: Say 'go away from here!'
BOSS: Understand me!
REN: Say 'here!'
BOSS: Listen to me!
REN: Come to the moon with me!
BOSS: Listen!
REN: Give me something to listen to! Tell me everything! Tell me nothing! Tell me the mass of your sorrow! Be honest! Enjoy me! Look at this! (He points to nothing in the air, she looks) Place your consciousness here! Right here! Here! See us from there! (He drops his arm, she looks at him) Tell me who you see!
BOSS: Be unhappy!
REN: Tell me who else you see!
BOSS: Be violent!
REN: Forget the incident!
BOSS: Leave me alone. Lessen the mass of my sorror!
REN: Forget a stupid incident! Forget my beast! Say 'here!'
BOSS: Go in the back room!
(She points to the back room. He goes there. JOG enters, jogs in place, jogs to the counter, jogs in place at the counter)
JOG: Point the way!
BOSS: (pointing) Go in there!
(JOG jogs into the back room, BOSS paces up and down the aisles. Three girls enter the store dressed in crude uniforms to which each has added some personal touch)
GIRL 1: Give us an example!
BOSS: Be gas and disperse!
GIRL 1: Give us another!
BOSS: Blow it out your ass!
GIRL 2: Give it to us straight!
BOSS: (pointing) There!
(The three girls go to the item and GIRL 1 picks the item up, then all three march to the counter)
GIRL 1: Give us it!
BOSS: Drop it!
GIRL 3: Give us!
BOSS: Drop the act!
GIRL 2: Act like us!
BOSS: Go to the moon!
(The girls line-up and say in unison)
THE GIRLS: Look at us on the moon!
BOSS: Stay there!
GIRL 1: Ask us for a fortune!
BOSS: Give me four-thirty-nine!
GIRL 1: (dropping large bill to the floor) Earn it!
BOSS: Get out!
(They march to the door, stop in the doorway)
GIRL 1: Stay at your level of intelligence!
BOSS: Give me a break!
(They exit. JOG enters from the back jogging)
Take my breath away!
JOG: Be honest!
BOSS: WaIk with me!
JOG: (stops jogging) Count the steps!
BOSS: Use my hand!
(BOSS leads JOG by the hand)
Do not give me one sorrow! Do not give or take two answers! Do not give us three breasts! Change us with four seasons! Look at our senses!
(They exit into the back room. REN walks out from the back and stands at the cash register standing perfectly still, head-cocked, listening to BOSS'S fading voice)
Draw us six-round bouts! Melt the seven days of the week!
REN: Give me a customer!
(He turns and exits into the back room).
